AAA Joins Truck Week

Truck Week 2026 continues to build national momentum, with the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) coming on board as an official partner.

Representing Australia’s motoring clubs and millions of everyday road users, AAA’s involvement adds an important dimension to Truck Week – bringing together the people who move freight with the people who share the road.

A shared responsibility on the road

AAA Managing Director Michael Bradley said the organisation was pleased to support the initiative and contribute to the national conversation around road safety.

“Truck Week provides a valuable opportunity to highlight the shared responsibility all road users have in keeping our roads safe,” he said.

“Through our Road Safety Research Program, we are committed to improving safety outcomes across the network, and we see strong alignment with Truck Week’s focus on people, safety and practical action.”

Turning research into practical action

That practical focus will be reflected in new fatigue-related resources developed through AAA’s Road Safety Research Program, which will be released during Truck Week via the National Road Safety Partnership Program platform.

The resources are designed to help organisations build a fatigue-aware driving culture – supporting not only heavy vehicle operators, but also light vehicle fleets and their supervisors, where fatigue risks are often less visible but just as real.

Rather than focusing on compliance alone, the program aims to equip teams with simple, practical tools to recognise early warning signs, have better conversations about fatigue, and take action before it becomes a safety issue.

As part of its involvement, AAA will promote Truck Week through its national channels in the lead-up to and during the week, with a focus on road safety messaging and the rollout of these resources.

AAA will also engage its member clubs across the country, encouraging them to share Truck Week messages and amplify safety initiatives within their own communities.

Opening the gate to the wider community

HVIA Chief Executive Todd Hacking said the partnership reflects the broader intent behind Truck Week — opening up the industry and strengthening connections with the wider community.

“Truck Week is not just about the heavy vehicle industry looking inward,” he said.

“It is about opening the gate and building understanding across the full road transport ecosystem.

“AAA and its member clubs represent Australia’s community of road users, and their involvement creates a valuable opportunity to bring together different perspectives and work towards better safety outcomes for everyone on the road.”

From depot gates to highways, and from drivers’ seats to everyday commuters, Truck Week 2026 continues to bring together the people, organisations and ideas that keep Australia moving – and keep its roads safer.
