Roads to Success: New QTA Podcast Shines Spotlight on Queensland’s Trucking Talent

Queensland’s road freight industry is powered by people — and this Truck Week 2026, their stories are taking centre stage.

The Queensland Trucking Association, through Transport Workforce Futures, is launching Roads to Success – a new five-episode video podcast series showcasing the real people, pathways and opportunities driving Queensland’s transport and logistics sector forward.

Transport Workforce Futures provides advisory support to Queensland’s transport and logistics industry on jobs, skills and workforce planning.

Created to attract new entrants, the podcast series highlights personal success stories that showcase Queensland’s emerging driving talent and the impact of workforce development and training.

A New Series Focused on Real Industry Stories

With short-form episodes of around 7–8 minutes, Roads to Success features Queensland truck drivers who have transformed their careers through QTA-supported training initiatives, alongside a fleet recognised for its award-winning training program.

Career Pathways, Training and People

Hosted by Justin Thompson, Industry Engagement Manager – Road Transport and Warehousing, the series explores authentic people, businesses and career journeys from across the industry.

Viewers will hear from Driving Futures pre-apprentices starting out on the road, drivers who have upskilled to expand their career options, and participants sharing insights into mental health and psychosocial risks in the workplace.

The series also features female drivers, career changers, and a fleet using training to strengthen leadership, safety and productivity outcomes.

Together, these stories reveal the human side of transport and demonstrate how targeted workforce development initiatives are delivering real results for Queensland’s road freight sector – improving safety, supporting retention and building pride across the industry.

Why the Series Fits Truck Week

The timing is deliberate. Truck Week 2026 celebrates the people who keep Australia moving, and Roads to Success is a natural addition to that conversation.

The series complements the official Truck Week program while encouraging people of all ages to consider a career that truly puts them in the driver’s seat.

Part of a Bigger Workforce Pipeline

The podcast is also the first in a broader pipeline of initiatives designed to showcase opportunities across transport and logistics, positioning QTA and Transport Workforce Futures as leaders in practical workforce solutions.

All five episodes will be released weekly during Truck Week, supported by teaser clips in the lead-up to launch. Episodes will be shared across social media channels and promoted through HVIA Truck Week activities.

Backing Skills, Safety and Workforce Development

This initiative builds on QTA’s long-standing leadership in workforce development and advocacy to create a skilled, safe and professional trucking workforce.

As the government-appointed Industry Skills, Jobs and Workforce Advisor for Transport and Logistics, QTA plays a key role in informing government on critical skilling and training priorities, while designing and delivering practical workforce programs.

Programs Creating Practical Pathways

These initiatives include pre-apprenticeship pathways such as Driving Futures, the Heavy Vehicle Driver Program, and Think.Act.Drive — a new program helping drivers better understand how behaviour influences decisions on the road.

Dropping during Truck Week

Stay tuned for Roads to Success, dropping in May. Real people. Real drivers. Real reasons to choose a career on the road.
