Truck Week 2026 has added a new Road Safety Around Trucks resource page to help light vehicle drivers better understand how to share the road safely with heavy vehicles.
The page features practical video messages from well-known industry ambassadors Yogi and CJ, whose public appeal and real-world trucking experience make them powerful voices for improving road safety awareness.
The resources are shared courtesy of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, whose safety campaigns help road users understand what trucks need to operate safely around other vehicles.
Built around the simple message “all we need is space to keep you safe”, the page brings together plain-English safety reminders about everyday situations where other road users can make a big difference.
The videos cover key topics, including overtaking trucks safely, keeping out of truck blind spots, avoiding dangerous overtaking when a truck is turning, giving trucks enough room to brake, and understanding oversize loads.
For Truck Week, the message fits strongly with the broader goal of improving community understanding of the people, vehicles and professionalism that keep Australia moving every day.
Heavy vehicles are larger, longer and slower to manoeuvre than cars. They need more space to stop, more room to turn, and greater awareness from surrounding road users. Small decisions by other drivers can make a big difference to safety.
The resource page is designed to be easy to share through workplace newsletters, toolbox talks, social media posts and community engagement activities during Truck Week and beyond.
